Weddings of Saint Anthony

The festivities in Lisboa also include the celebration of love, which takes place through the traditional weddings of Saint Anthony.
This unique tradition has been around since 1958 and aims to provide couples in financial difficulties with the opportunity to get married.
Although the tradition was stopped in 1974, it was revived by Lisboa City Hall, which continues to help make the dream come true for many Lisboa lovers who have been unable to make it happen themselves.
On June 12th, 16 couples will exchange their vows and become “man and wife” at the Sé de Lisboa, located at Largo da Sé and accessible by trams 12 and 28 or bus 737.
