I love browsing the markets, where I can pick up a handmade gift or a book, enjoy the food, and take a leisurely walk.
So, if you are in Lisbon, I have a list of markets to explore. Of course, my favorite spot is the Time Out Market, where you can have a bite to eat.
1. TimeOut Market Lisbon
Time Out Market is a famous daily market for locals and visitors to sample food from the most popular restaurants in Lisbon.
It is the largest food market in Lisbon, where you can sample a single dish without ordering an entire meal.
Another great treat is that the Mercado da Ribeira building is home to my favorite spot, Manteigaria.

2. Mercado da Ribeira
Next, we head to Mercado da Ribeira, Lisbon’s largest market and the city’s largest fresh food market.
You can find it in the city center next to the Time Out Market, and this fresh produce market is not expensive. The daily market sells everything you can find on a shopping list.
Whether you want fruit, spices, fish, meat, vegetables, or more, you will find it at this famous market. If you have never shopped at any Portuguese market, you must give this a try.

3. Baixa Market
Mercado da Baixa, or the Baixa Market, is in a gigantic tent that opens at 9:00 AM on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Here, you can shop for fresh bread, cured meats, cheese, and fish for dinner. The vibrant market is a foodie haven, and a highlight is the queijo da Serra sandwich made with fresh bread and enchidos sausages.
Furthermore, it makes for a great day trip around the scenic square, which offers astounding views.
4. Feira do Relógio
The charming Sunday street market is another one of the largest in the city. Here, you can find great deals and nearly everything you can imagine.
Still, the flea market is a bit off the beaten path in a quiet 🤫 district but close to the Metro line and worth the trip.
Here, you can buy fresh flowers, antiques, vintage clothing, produce, electronics, and more. It is one of those places where you can find many hidden treasures.
So start your bargain hunting to find cut-price clothing. You will not be disappointed.
5. Feira da Ladra – Thieves Market
Feira da Ladra, also known as the Lisbon Flea Market, is one of the longest-running markets.
Feira da Ladra once was a food market, but today, it is a design market. This is the place to be if you want to find good deals on collectibles and unique items.
You can grab an al fresco lunch to enjoy here or take it on the road with you. While here, you can explore the Alfama district and head to the historic church across the street.

6. Mercado Biológico do Principe Real
Mercado Biológico do Principe Real is a popular flea market that opens every Saturday and offers an upscale public market.
You find fresh produce from olive oil, meat, vegetables, and more here. If you need a gift for someone, you can also get handicrafts.
You can enjoy fresh pastries, locally made cheese, honey, and organic wine at one of the best craft markets in the country.
7. LXFactory Sunday Market
For a hip market, head to the LX Factory market on Sundays. Here, you can find everything from vintage items to crafts.
The craft market you find tucked away among rows of restaurants, cafes, and shops. It is a great place to find second-hand goods, from collectibles to antiques.
The iconic market is where you find your vintage vinyl, wall art, and old-school fashions. It is also an excellent place to find fresh local fruit, vegetables, and souvenirs.
8. Campo de Ourique Market
The Campo de Ourique is an original market that dates back to 1934. It is in a historic building with a central food court.
Market vendors sell quality fish, inexpensive second-hand books, bread, cheese, crafts, and other goods here.
You can enjoy prepared food and performances while shopping around the market. Compared to TimeOut Market, this one is also a foodie destination.
9. Avenida da Liberdade Flea Market
Every 2nd weekend of the month, head to the Avenida da Liberdade flea market to find hidden deals and bargains.
It is one of the cheapest markets along a shaded tree-lined avenue. It is also one of the best creative markets in this upscale neighborhood.
Browse through the stacks of bargains to find vinyl albums, antiques, and more. Also, do not be afraid to haggle.
10. Mercado 31 de Janeiro
The Mercado 31 de Janeiro is an excellent food market for the best seafood selection. If you want quality fish, this is where you will find it.
Even the restaurant at the market is worth a visit. You can also find fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese, and more here.
11. Feira de Alfarrabistas
If you love to find second-hand books, head to Chiado every Saturday to the Feira de Alfarrabistas Market. You will find valuable and antique books, comic books, maps, and more here.
