Brunch in Lisbon is a big thing, and it was not until I moved there in 2018 that I really understood how big it is.
Since then, I’ve tried countless places, and new ones pop up almost every month. I try to keep the list up to date.
That said, I have my go-to places where I just know the food is incredible, the vibe is amazing, and the staff makes you feel welcome.
My collection of the best brunch spots in Lisbon includes options for non-vegans, vegetarians, and vegans, so there is a brunch spot for you.
Be aware that you can’t usually book a brunch table in Lisbon. They usually only take walk-ins, so if you’re not there when they open, you’ll have to wait a little while, but it usually goes super fast.
The brunch places in Lisbon open quite early, so if you’re looking for breakfast, the brunch places are the places to go, unless you want to go to a bakery.
Brunch is just one part of Lisbon’s incredible food scene. For everything from pastries to seafood dinners, check out my complete Lisbon food guide. And don’t miss Portugal’s amazing wine culture – my Portuguese wine guide covers everything you need to know.

Quick answer: If you want the best brunch in Lisbon, start with Dear Breakfast (my #1 pick), then Zenith and Breakfast Lovers. Most places are walk-in only; go early to avoid queues.
Best brunch in Lisbon (quick picks)
If you’re short on time, here are the top picks from this list:
- Best overall: Dear Breakfast
- Best all-rounder: Zenith Brunch & Cocktails
- Best for a cosy vibe: Hello, Kristoff
- Best variety: Fauna & Flora
- Best “first brunch in Lisbon”: Amelia Brunch
1. Dear Breakfast Brunch Cafe
Address: R. das Gaivotas 17, 1200-163 Lisboa, Portugal
Dear Breakfast is my favorite brunch spot right now; who knows, it might change in the future.
My favorite Dear Breakfast one is in Santos. The one in Chiado is nice, too, but I feel a difference.
In Santos, you can walk around after brunch, head down toward the Tagus River, and enjoy the view.
The one in Chiado is perfect if you’re in a hurry and like a busy vibe. If you need a calmer vibe, try the one in Santos.
My partner’s go-to brunch dish is always Eggs Benedict wherever she goes. I like to switch things up, but at Dear Breakfast, the breakfast tacos are amazing, and I always round out my meal with their pancakes.
The hazelnut baby pancakes are just amazing; I can’t visit Dear Breakfast without getting them; they’re so tasty.
The last time I was there, I tried their beetroot latte, which is a completely pink coffee, and it was surprisingly good. They’re really good at thinking outside the box with their menu.
It’s a super modern place, perfect for Instagram photos, and I encourage you to try it. It’s magnificent.
Tip: Ask for a table at the window to see the trams go by in Chiado while enjoying your brunch.
2. Zenith Brunch & Cocktails
Address: R. do Telhal 4A, 1150-346 Lisboa, Portugal
It was at Zenith that I first discovered that brunch places in Lisbon serve brunch all day, which is very unusual for someone coming from Denmark.
Zenith is an amazing place on two floors near Avenida da Liberdade. Of course, they serve incredible brunch, which is why they’re number two on my list.
So after brunch, it’s the perfect starting point for a stroll down one of Lisbon’s most impressive boulevards(Avenida da Liberdade).
Their fluffy pancakes are amazing in every way, but their granola is the star of the show for me.
I know this might sound absurd, but the yogurt they’re using is just so tasty, and the same goes for their granola.
I can also recommend their eggs Benedict, or eggs Zenith, as they call them, and get a vanilla latte. It’s just so tasteful.
I haven’t tried their cocktails, but from what I hear, they’re amazing. So, try their cocktails if you’re up for some late brunch.
Tip: Sometimes, their credit card machines don’t work, so bring cash. Otherwise, there is an ATM 50 meters from the brunch spot.
3. Breakfast Lovers Brunch
Address: Calçada do Combro 45, 1200-114 Lisboa, Portugal
Breakfast Lovers is one of the newer places I’ve tried, and yes, I love this place because it’s super unique.
While you wait for a table, the stores and boutiques on the same street are worth exploring. Chiado is great for that.
I tried spicy mac and cheese the last time I was there, and it was surprisingly good. I was a bit unsure about trying it for brunch, but it’s worth it if you’re into Mac and Cheese.
Their eggs Benedict, coffee, and pancakes are all great, too, but the portions are generally quite big, so don’t order too much.
They recently opened a spot in Alfama, but I haven’t tried this one yet; I have only tried it in Chiado.
Be aware that the one in Chiado is super small, so if you’re not there when they open, you will have to stand in line. Put your name on the list and either wait on the side or explore the stores on the same street.
4. Seagull Method Brunch
Address: R. da Palmeira 23, 1200-311 Lisboa, Portugal
It’s so difficult to rank Seagull Method at number 4 because this is a unique brunch place in so many ways, with amazing food, but it just shows how many amazing brunch spots there are in Lisbon.
Bairro Alto is quiet in the morning, making it the perfect time to wander its streets before the neighborhood transforms into Lisbon’s nightlife hub later in the day.
A fun fact about Seagull is that you can put your own spin on Seagull by either writing or drawing something on their walls. The walls are covered in text and drawings from guests.
When it comes to the food, Seagull does not disappoint, their eggs Benedict are served on a brioche bread that tastes like taking a bite of heaven, you have to try this.
If you have space after, try their pancakes. My favorite is the Spice Girls pancakes; they’re so fluffy and tasty.
5. Comoba Brunch Cafe
Address: Rua da Boavista 90, 1200-085 Lisboa, Portugal
I tried Comoba for the first time in 2023, and while it’s a bit expensive, the food and coffee are incredible.
Comoba is located in Cais do Sodré, which is right by the river, so a walk along the waterfront after brunch is an easy way to round off the morning.
You do sit on small chairs and tables, and while it looks good aesthetically, it’s not super comfortable, so just be aware.
Their yogurt and granola are incredible, along with their coffees, but I also love the burrito. It’s a bit different than the other brunch places, but they’re good at switching it up.
I tried the Spandauer(I had to; I’m Danish) when I was there with Pistacio, and now you can get it with Snickers. So they keep updating the menu, which is great.
I felt the noise level was not that bad compared to some of the other brunch places in Lisbon, and it’s quite big, so I haven’t had to wait in line yet.
6. Amun Brunch Café
Address: R. da Escola Politécnica 94, 1250-100 Lisboa, Portugal
My favorite spa hotel is just a 3-minute walk from Amun, so I have been there a couple of times. It’s a super cool spot.
Amun is located in Principe Real, one of Lisbon’s most charming neighborhoods, so take a walk through the garden at Jardim do Príncipe Real after you eat, it’s just around the corner.
Fun fact about this place: when I started coming here, it was called Numa, but now they’ve changed it to Amun, which is the same thing, just spelled backwards. I never found out why, probably some legal matters.
If you need to do some work, you can bring your laptop and sit at the tables near the windows.
If you’re just here to relax and enjoy the amazing food, you can sit at the round tables in the middle.
I love their dark cocoa smoothie, a thick blend of cocoa, vegan yogurt, dates, and a lot of love. It’s so tasteful!
The food menu changes slightly throughout the day, but their bagel is good, and both the yogurt and smoothie bowl are amazing.
They don’t have a lot of meat options, so if you’re looking to eat bacon and meat in general, this is not the place to go.
7. Heim Café
Address: R. Santos-O-Velho 2 e 4, 1200-109 Lisboa, Portugal
Heim Café is super close to my favorite brunch spot, Dear Breakfast, so you have two great brunch places next to each other.
Since you’re already in Bairro Alto, combine it with a visit to Seagull Method right nearby, two great brunch spots in the same neighborhood.
Heim Café is probably one of the smallest brunch places I’ve seen in Lisbon, so be patient if you try this. The food is still incredible.
It’s a cozy little spot on a corner, owned by the same owners who own Seagull Method.
They have a good mix of salty and sweet dishes, and it’s probably the brunch place with the widest variety, from salad bowls to pancakes.
8. Bread and Friends
Address: Av. Fontes Pereira de Melo 8, 1050-121 Lisboa, Portugal
Bread and Friends should probably be higher on the list, but it’s so difficult with the many incredible places.
I will say Bread and Friends is the place that innovates the most. Every time I visit, they have a new pastry, dish, or coffee you can try.
The last time I was there, I tried a flat, crunchy croissant, the famous round croissant with Kinder filling, and another one with pistachio filling. They were incredible!
My partner tried one of their egg dishes with some bread and vinegar salad, and it was amazing.
And you have to get a coffee here as well, and try some of the local Portuguese pastries like Pao de Queijo and Pão com Chouriço, they’re incredible.
A lot of locals come here, especially during lunch time, so if you want to avoid a long queue, try to avoid this time.
After eating, you’re perfectly placed to walk up toward Parque Eduardo VII, which is just a few minutes away and worth the short climb.
9. Hello, Kristoff
Address: R. do Poço dos Negros 103, 1200-337 Lisboa, Portugal
Hello, Krisoff is primarily known for its coffee, but the cute little brunch spot is super cozy, too.
The Bica funicular is literally steps away, so ride it down to the waterfront after your coffee; it’s one of those classic Lisbon moments.
It’s tiny, so expect to wait in line unless you come later in the day, when there aren’t as many people. They only have space for 16 at a time.
They have two locations: one in Bairro Alto and another in Alfama. I haven’t tried the one in Alfama, so my experience is based on the cozy Bairro Alto(Bica) spot.
Their menu changes frequently, but their toasts and homemade pastries always hit the spot. Now that they’re known for their coffee, you have to try it in any sort.
10. Fauna & Flora
Address: R. António Maria Cardoso 58, 1200-445 Lisboa, Portugal
Fauna & Flora has 4 locations, and they’ve really grown since I first stumbled upon them.
With four locations across the city, you can basically plan your Lisbon neighborhood exploration around whichever one is closest to where you’re heading that day.
The feeling of this brunch spot is more like a chain than a local one, unlike many of the other places in this beautiful, hilly capital city.
Last I checked, it’s the spot for brunch with the widest variety of bagels during brunch, with nine different types.
They also have granola with yogurt, which is one of my favorite brunch options. In general, their menu card has a lot of variety.
11. Amelia Brunch
Address: R. Ferreira Borges 101, 1350-128 Lisboa, Portugal
Amelia was the first brunch spot I tried in Lisbon, right in Campo de Ourique, next to Amoreiras, where I lived.
Campo de Ourique has a very local, residential feel compared to the more touristy parts of Lisbon; the market nearby is worth a quick visit after you eat.
It has a funny story: Amelia is the “girlfriend” of another brunch restaurant in Lisbon named Nicolau.
To go straight to the food, which is what brunch is all about, the pancakes are what I remember most vividly from Amelia.
I also got the ginger shot last time I was here, and it’s the strongest ginger shot I’ve ever tried, so just be aware of this if you feel adventurous.
I like the eggs Benedict here for salty food, but their Acai bowl is amazing, too.
It’s a super Instagram-friendly place, not only for the food but also for the place itself. It gives off a Bali vibe, which is quite interesting.

Wrap-Up
Brunch in Lisbon is amazing. You can eat it from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., and the food is incredibly high-quality.
My favorite is Dear Breakfast because the food is super tasty, the staff is friendly, and the interior is super pleasing to the eye.
When I want to try something more local or innovative, I go to Bread and Friends, close to Avenida da Liberdade.
Basically, in Lisbon, you can find all sorts of brunch places that fit you, so whatever you’re into, there is a brunch place for you.
Once you’ve eaten your brunch, you probably want to walk it off and explore the city. I’ve made a self-guided walking tour for you here.
Planning On Going To Lisbon?
I’ve created a trip planner where you enter the number of days you’re going and what activities you want to do.
Based on your input, you then get an entire vacation planned with ideas.

Lisbon sounds like a brunch lover’s paradise! I love that you can enjoy it almost all day, and it’s great to hear about spots like Dear Breakfast and Bread and Friends. It’s nice to have both a cozy, stylish option and a place for something more local and creative. Definitely adding these to my list for when I visit!
Yea, Lisbon is incredible when it comes to brunch. Excited for you to try them out.
This is helpful and practical advice. Knowing that brunch spots in Lisbon don’t take reservations sets the right expectations. The reassurance that the wait is usually short is reassuring. The mention of the accordion navigation suggests a well-organized guide, making it easy to find relevant details.
Appreciate your comment, Garima, and I’m happy you found it easy to understand the guide. Have a wonderful day. 🙂
