If you’re planning to explore Lisbon’s public transportation more, a 24-hour ticket or Carris/Metro pass for €6.85 is a good option.
It offers unlimited rides on trams, buses, metros, and picturesque funiculars, including the famous Elevador da Bica.
A zapping ticket is also an incredibly affordable option when visiting the vibrant capital city.
I would recommend looking at the latest prices on the Carris website to see if there are alternative senior and children prices or to figure out what the most convenient ticket for you would be.
Payments can be made in cash or with a Viva Viagem card, which is easily topped up at various kiosks and metro stations across the city.
Best Time to Visit Elevador da Bica
The best time to ride the Bica funicular is either early in the morning or late in the evening when the crowds are smaller.
I have found that midday, especially during peak tourist season, tends to be too busy to really enjoy this iconic trip.
For the best photographs of this tourist attraction, I would really recommend golden hour, just after sunrise or before sunset, when the light is soft, and the streets and charming funicular railway are bathed in a warm glow.
