Taking a Lisbon Tuk Tuk can be a good idea if you want to get an overview of the beautiful city or if you’re not able to walk a lot due to some issues.
If you’re able to walk and have suitable footwear, then Lisbon is a very walkable city, and I always prefer to walk around.
I did take a Tuk Tuk one time, but it’s not the type of Tuk Tuk trip you might think of; this one was super unique.
A Tuk Tuk tour costs anywhere from $50 to $80 per person, depending on the trip and every other variable.
Be aware that Lisbon has banned Tuk Tuks in the center of Lisbon, which makes it a bit more challenging to find one.
On the TukTuk tour I took, we didn’t drive around Lisbon, but we went to Costa da Caparica, a viewpoint in Monsanto Park, and much more.
We went to an illegal fishing village, the most northern point in Costa da Caparica, and we went to an old casino with a view of the city and other unique areas.
If you find someone who knows unique areas around Lisbon, you’re in for a treat, but it’s more expensive, and you need to spend more time, just a heads up.
Who are the Tuk Tuk Tours For?
Tuk Tuk Tours are for you if you have mobility issues or if you want to see the city quickly, to see the iconic landmarks of Lisbon.
You can either choose to go on a red bus tour around the city or take a tuk-tuk; however, with the recent bans, you don’t have the same experience as the city.
Instead, I would take Tram 28 around as it goes through all the most important areas, as well as the red tour bus.
The Tuk Tuks are now perfect for seeing hidden gems and unique places surrounding Lisbon. You just need to find one who knows the places.
If you come from a cruise ship, just check whether you have time for the full tour. I know that you don’t always have a long time exploring the narrow streets of Lisbon by cruise ship, so be careful not to miss your cruise ship.
You can book Tuk Tuk tours here.
Tips For The Best Tuk Tuk Tour

I have six tips to ensure you get the best trip without issues on your next potential Tuk Tuk trip.
- Book with locals to get a unique experience, as you talk with them, if they suggest the classics like Belém Tower etc., then they don’t know the unique places.
- Ask for the price upfront to avoid misunderstandings once the trip is done.
- Pay before the tour starts to avoid issues in the end.
- Don’t use them as a form of transportation, as it’s too expensive but perfect for sightseeing.
- Negotiate the Price, as it’s always up for negotiation. Ask for their best price, and then go 20-30% below that to start your negotiation.
- Choose Electric Tuk Tuks if you want to avoid a very loud trip.

Wrap-Up: Lisbon Tuk Tuk
When you decide whether to get a Tuk Tuk in Lisbon, ensure it’s because you want to experience something unique or you want someone to give you a history lesson about Lisbon.
It’s a great way to see some of the city and hear what the different things are about, but you can’t experience the center anymore on Tuk Tuks, as they’re banned.
So if you’re planning to see Bairro Alto, Baixa, Chiado, and so forth, then taking Tram 28 is your best option.
Take it from Campo de Ourique if you want to ensure you can sit down.
You can also book them days in advance, but I advice you to walk up to them as you see them, and talk with them and tell them what you want to see.
But remember, Lisbon is a very walkable city, so unless you have some disabilities, then I recommend you walk around and experience the city center.

I’ve created a trip planner where you enter the number of days you’re going and what activities you want to do.
Based on your input, you then get an entire vacation planned with ideas.
